Solectric™ eco-boosts. These solar powered packages combine our high efficiency LED lights with the ability to store power for use when the system is not producing electricity such as during the night or during blackouts.
Solectric™ eco-boosts can be configured in a variety of different ways depending on your needs.
There are several methods that try to solve this issue by creating a "hybrid" system that measures the available light, using photocells or other light measuring devices, coming in through the skylight or windows, feeds this information into some sort of programmable controller which then controls the light output of some type of dimmable light source. The net result is the combining of outdoor and electrical light sources to maintain a desired light output throughout the day, while minimizing electrical use. The problems with this type of solution are high cost, high complexity, the need to hire a programmer, software bugs and all of the normal drawbacks from traditional skylights, such as; unwanted heat gain in summer and unwanted heat loss in winter, potential for water leaks and drafts, and the inability to bring the daylight into the center of multi-story buildings.
